Study Abroad in Prague

Ano means yes.

I’ve been here for two weeks. California weather in post-communist central Europe, couldn’t ask for anything better. What’s the conversion rate for time? I was almost hit by an Aston-Martin Rapide yesterday.

The first and only time I’ve heard anything positive said about Americans was from a prostitute, “You’re Amerikan? I love Amerikans”. The conversation didn’t last long. We didn’t realize it at the time but we were on our way to drink wine and watch Guns N’ Roses videos in a spliff smoke filled wine cellar older than George Washington’s grandmother.

?ty?i means four.

As Americans, we get a lot of looks and stares around town. We’re probably talking loudly and look funny. Even the dogs and the children judge us, I can see it in their eyes.

I would put the two best foosball players on Wrightsville Beach against most Czechs. They live for the game. Me and another American challenged two Czechs to a game in a little bar where you can buy a beer and gram of weed for around 250 crowns. I saw moves worthy of a professional commentary. Fake, pass-back, juke; the final score was 10-2.

 Zmrzlina means ice-cream.

Beer is everywhere. There is a pub in the basement of our dorm and the vending machines stocked full. Beer etiquette is somewhat backwards to what we are used to in the states. It is legal to drink in public; but come to find out, you can’t help but feel like an ass hole slamming a beer on the metro next to a mother and child. I once felt a bit of remorse when drinking a beer at 2 in the afternoon until I saw two old ladies at the table next to me finishing their third.

The only news I’ve heard from back home is that Kanye is still a whiney b**** and Roadhouse became even more of a classic than it already was. RIP Mr. Swayze. My English is getting worse and my Czech better.
