This month, The Wilmington Post had the pleasure of interviewing one of the most popular and unique boutiques on Wrightsville Beach, Hallelu. Hallelu is a boutique that was started by Catherine Yearwood and her husband six years ago. A native from Wrightsville Beach, Catherine returned home from her stint of living in California and noticed that there were no trendy boutiques offering the lower price points that she was accustomed to on the west coast. Catherine wanted to bring that to the beach so that everyone could afford to look trendy and fashionable, but at a much lower cost! Hallelu houses some
of the most chic and beachy-fun apparel, with designers such as:
Lush, Arc & Co, Mink Pink, Collective Concepts, The Addison Story, and many more! Mary Catherine an employee of Hallelu summarizes their boutique as having, ” A beachy vibe but still catering to people who still have a desire for fashion.” Something many of you might not know is that Hallelu is a consignment boutique also, which means you can bring in your gently used fashionable clothes to be sold in the store! Hallelu also carries some of the most unique and local jewelry, especially their line called “Half”. “Half United is a humanitarian food and merchandise company that fights the global hunger epidemic. Every time you purchase a Half product you give one or more pounds of rice away to a hungry family in need.” Hallelu is truly unique in the sense of their name brands, jewelry, resale, and even their store name! The store name Hallelu was chosen from the word Hallelujah which means “Praise the Lord” in which Caroline and her husband chose to reflect their faith. Inside the store you will find tons of displays of cute wraps, patterned dresses, cropped jackets, tunics, tees, skirts, etc etc they have everything, and all at reasonable price points! LUSH- one of their big lines has amazing clothes and all for around or under $40! Caroline also told me that she just returned back from a trade show recently and ordered tons of cute new clothing for the spring which is arriving as we speak!
Hallelu gets new shipment almost every day so stop in frequently and
check out why Hallelu is such a unique and great quality boutique!
With prices like this, and clothes this cute, you would have to be crazy not to stop by! They are located on Wrightsville Beach after the second bridge to the right, right behind Wings Surf Shop.

Classy, Sophisticated, and Tory Burch. Three words that best describe one of Wilmington’s most upscale and elite boutiques; Monkee’s. This boutique was chosen not only for their extensive and bountiful collection of premier designers, but also for their overall shopping experience and wonderful customer interaction. As soon as you step foot in Monkee’s, you re immediately immersed into a feeling of luxury and assurance; that is, the assurance of knowing you are going to find way too many cute clothes. The boutique radiates elegance and grace from their jackie-o garden party cocktail dresses, right down to their numerous chandeliers and french wall sconces. All the girls at Monkees are very knowledgable about their inventory and designers, and have such talent at pulling the right pieces and sizes to style any woman. However, the service isnt the only bragworthy aspect about Monkees, the exquisite collection of fashionable clothing and top shelf accessories also back up the well known reputation that Monkee’s has aquired. Some of the staple labels found year round at Monkees include: Trina Turk, Tory Burch, Kate Spade, BCBG, Milly, Shoshanna, and Tibi. Monkee’s houses the most chic cocktail dresses and classy resort wear. The girls at Monkees are anxiously awaiting the cute spring clothes they ordered for you months ago. Spring lines for Shoshanna and Milly have already been spotted on the display windows at Monkees, as well as a brand new line called “Robbi and Nikki”. Jennings Lathan, an employee of monkees, is most excited about the Robbi and Nikki line because they include fun bright tops that can be paired with your favorite jeans. As if you needed an excuse to come into Monkees, I will go ahead and give you one: ladies, spring break is in less than 4 weeks. The Tory Burch flip flops are on display, along with countless “to-die-for” spring tops, resort dresses, pastel shorts, and colorful jewelry. Its never to early to start buying spring clothes, especially for us Wilmington girls who know how early in the year the warm weather starts back up. Spring clothing is not the only new thing to Monkees this season, they are getting in numerious new perfume fragrances, Kate Spade clothing, and Tibi Shoes. If you havent already started packing for your spring vacation somewhere warm, why not start at Monkees? Monkees is located in the Lumina Station shopping center off of Eastwood Avenue. Stop by and check out Monkees, I promise youll go “bananas”.

This month The Wilmington Post had the pleasure of putting the spotlight on one of the most chic and avant garde boutiques in Wilmington; Island Passage Elixir. A sister store to Island Passage located at Lumina Station, Island Passage Elixir is located downtown on Market Street, home to some of Wilmington’s most unique and trendy stores. The stores manager Hannah best describes the stores style as “a trendier and more soho chic version of their main store island Passage”. Some of the trendy well known designer brands found here are Free People, Luluvia, and Ella Moss. The boutique also houses a fabulous jewelry collection with tons of unique necklaces and earrings; each piece different from the rest. The cute clothes and accessories are what drives customers to this store, celebrities too. One tree Hill’s Bethany Joy Galeotti shops at Island Passage Elixir not only for her character played on the show, Haley Scott, but for her own personal wardrobe. The boutique has a variety of price points to fit all of their customers’ needs, and even lower price points at their consignment store Return Passage located a couple blocks away on Grace Street. The girls at Island Passage Elixir are very friendly, fashionable, passionate, and knowledgeable about their boutique, and can’t wait for you to stop by! They are located on 4 Market Street, in downtown Wilmington.

The Wilmington Post recently had the pleasure of teaming up with Oliver for our very first fashion article. Oliver, owned by Ken and Kelly Oliver, is a clothing store that carries 70 top contemporary lines, most of which are exclusive to Oliver. The store sells numerous designer jeans, all of which are made in America. Prices start at $100, and all the jeans are high cotton count denim. For a full list of designers that Oliver features, visit their website at www.oliverclothing.com. Oliver has a variety of price ranges to fit anyone’s budget, but has especially made an effort at having a better price point on items for the sake of the current economy. They have been open for 8 years and have two locations; one here in Wilmington, North Carolina and the other in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Visit Wilmington’s Oliver at 1055 Military Cutoff Road, in the Renaissance shopping plaza across from Mayfaire.
